“As a first daughter from a struggling background, you have no business marrying for love” — Lady says

A woman has created an online debate after telling first daughters from low-income families to put financial security ahead of love when choosing a partner.

In a viral video uploaded on X, she emphasised the role that first children play in defining their family’s future.

Read what she said below;

As a first daughter from a struggling background, you have no business marrying for love. I didn’t say this to be nice, and I honestly don’t care if it makes you angry,” she said.

If you are a first daughter and your family is struggling, marrying for love should not even be your priority. You should be chasing money. You should be focused on securing the bag. Think about it carefully. You have younger ones looking up to you. Then you go and marry a broke man. What exactly are you teaching them

She added that the same principle applies to first sons. “If you are a first son from a struggling family and you later make it in life, never settle for a hungry woman. Never marry a broke woman. You should marry someone financially stable, someone on your level. As a first son, you also have no business marrying poverty.”

Her letter elicited mixed reactions on social media, with some admiring her candour and others discussing whether financial status should take precedence over love in marriage selections.

Many people emphasised the burden on first-born children to set an example for their siblings, while others emphasised that emotional compatibility is equally important.

The video is still trending as topics about family responsibilities, love, and financial freedom in marriage gain traction online.
