Online discussions have been sparked by an X user’s sharing of a troubling experience from her apprenticeship in tailoring.
She claims that the incident started when a married apprentice was asked to kneel down by their boss for arriving late to work.
She claimed that she intervened to challenge the ruling, claiming that asking a married woman to kneel was impolite, but things soon got out of hand.
She was accused of being disrespectful by the boss, who allegedly sl@pped her and told her to quit visiting the store.
She claimed that after the incident, she asked for a reimbursement of the ₦160,000 she had paid for six months of training, pointing out that she had only been there for roughly three weeks.
She did, however, add that those in her immediate vicinity are telling her to apologize rather than demanding her money back, claiming that this kind of treatment is “normal” in the apprenticeship system.
