Social media commentator Isaac Fayose has reaffirmed his support for Labour Party presidential hopeful Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general election, while criticising Igbo supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose made the remarks while discussing politics in the South-East and what he described as Peter Obi’s impact on Igbo politics over the past several decades.
He argued that, apart from the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, no Igbo politician had achieved what Obi has accomplished politically in recent years.
‘Peter Obi has done what others could not’
Fayose said:
“Any Igbo man supporting this APC government is a w!ck£d Igbo man.
When it comes to politics in Igbo land, in the last 40 years, apart from late Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, no other Igbo man has done what Peter Obi has done.
You all don’t have s£ns£. Nnamdi is still in jail, they didn’t allow Peter Obi to campaign. Y’all should know that with or without you people, Obi will still be declared winner come January 2027…”
Fayose predicts Obi’s 2027 victory
The commentator also referenced the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu and Peter Obi’s campaign activities, using both issues to argue in favour of Obi’s political relevance in the South-East.
Fayose maintained that Obi would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election regardless of whether certain groups or individuals supported his candidacy.
His comments have sparked reactions online, with social media users debating Obi’s influence in the South-East, the role of Igbo voters in Nigerian politics and the prospects of the opposition ahead of the 2027 election.
Fayose’s prediction of an Obi victory remains his personal political view, while the outcome of the 2027 presidential election will ultimately be determined by voters and the electoral process.
