Anthony Joshua: Man who drove on same road 20 minutes before accident releases video ‘proving road was fine’

A man who travelled on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway barely 20 minutes before world-famous British boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in an automobile accident has come out, revealing his thoughts and a video of the scene.

Orowale Kolapo, also known as Oni Foto on Facebook, confessed that he was on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway just before the crash that crippled Anthony Joshua and killed two of his teammates, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.

Kolapo published a video depicting the quality of the road, refuting charges that bad road conditions contributed to the disaster.

Kolapo denied that the incident was caused by the road’s state, calling such assertions inaccurate and part of an intentional propaganda effort.

He hailed the highway as “one of the smoothest roads in Nigeria,” adding that there are no bumps between Berger and Iwo Road.

Kolapo described the collision as “unfortunate,” but noted that a driver’s error could have been the cause.

He emphasised that the road wasn’t to blame. Kolapo prayed for the souls of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, who died in the crash, and expressed compassion to their families and Anthony Joshua.

Kolapo’s footage showed a smooth stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway minutes before the tragedy occurred.

Read what he wrote below:

“Anthony Joshua’s accident was like 20 mins after I drove past the same road and there is a misconception and propaganda going on that it was bad road that caused the mishap. That is untrue. Lagos/Ibadan expressway is one of the smoothest roads in Nigeria as a whole. You will not step into a bump from Berger to Iwo Road. It is just unfortunate and I think it was a driver’s miscalculation. May the souls of the dead rest well.”

Anthony Joshua is still in a Lagos hospital undergoing treatment after the disaster, while the nation mourns the deaths of his two close colleagues.
