Aisha Yesufu Reacts to Video of Widow Who Said Her Husband Died a Hero After Being Killed by Terrorists

Social activist and NDC Chieftain, Aisha Yesufu has reacted to a viral video showing a young widow mourning her husband, who was reportedly killed by terrorists alongside other colleagues at a civilian watchpost.

Yesufu, in a post shared on social media, expressed concern over the continued attacks and killings in the country, warning that Nigerians must collectively confront the insecurity before more people become victims.

“As long as we don’t come together and put a stop to this, it is only a matter of time before Nigeria happens to us,” Yesufu said.

She noted that victims of attacks were previously survivors, stressing the recurring nature of violence and the possibility of anyone becoming a victim.

“Yesterday’s victims were once survivors. Today’s victims were yesterday’s survivors and tomorrow’s victims will be today’s survivors!” she added.

The reaction followed the circulation of a video showing the widow paying tribute to her late husband during his burial. In the emotional tribute, she described her husband as a hero after he was killed alongside his colleagues by terrorists who reportedly attacked their civilian watchpost.

“You died as a hero,” the widow was heard saying in the video as she mourned her husband.

The incident has drawn attention to the risks faced by civilian volunteers and local security groups involved in protecting communities affected by terrorist attacks, with renewed calls for stronger measures to protect residents and prevent further loss of lives.
