A woman has ignited an online debate after recounting an incident involving a pastor who purportedly turned down a reformed former prostitute as his son’s future wife, despite previously celebrating her repentance in church.

According to the story shared online, the pastor met the woman on an evangelism effort when she was still engaged in prostitution.

He reportedly preached to her, and she repented, surrendered her life to Christ, and stopped prostitution. She eventually began to visit the same church on a regular basis.

After meeting in church, the woman reportedly began dating the pastor’s son around a year later. The connection progressed, and the pair decided to marry.

However, when the son accompanied the woman home to formally introduce her to his father, the pastor reportedly refused to approve the union.

According to the lady’s story, the decision startled church members because the pastor had previously publicly praised the woman as a “soul won for Christ”.

The incident sparked enormous outrage online, with many questioning the authenticity of Christian teachings on forgiveness and transformation.

Some critics noted that the pastor’s actions contradicted the redemption message that he frequently preached from the pulpit, while others defended his right to make personal family decisions.

The woman who shared the tale asked a question that has now garnered popularity on social media:“Do we truly believe in redemption or only when it benefits our sermons?”
