Emem Isong, a Nigerian broadcaster, ignited outrage online after posting a powerful message on Facebook about love, financial security, and emotional responsibility in partnerships.
Her post, which rapidly went viral, focused on the emotional burden that some women face when they are in relationships with males who lack direction, financial stability, or discipline.
The statement has subsequently sparked debate across social media sites, with many disagreeing on its tone and content.
Emem Isong described in her piece how women progressively lose themselves while attempting to support troubled relationships.
She said that partnerships might start off with optimism and emotional support but then develop into stressful experiences.
She wrote: “You ever seen a woman lose herself trying to love a man who had nothing to give her but stress? I have. And it’s ugly.”
She went on to say that such situations frequently result in emotional exhaustion, and that many women begin with patience and belief only to be overwhelmed by unexpected duties.
The announcer was unreservedly critical of males who pursue relationships without financial or personal stability. She maintained that love alone is insufficient to sustain a healthy relationship.
According to her post: “A man with no money, no plan, no discipline has no damn business chasing love.”
She also stated that some men unfairly expect women to support them while they try to figure out their lives, calling such demands unhealthy and unfair.
Emem Isong also stated that guys should consider what they provide to relationships before chasing love. She emphasised the value of peace, stability, and mental safety.
She stated: “If you can’t provide peace, protection, or progress—leave her alone.”
She warned that dragging a partner into personal chaos often leads to long-term emotional damage rather than growth.
