A viral film spreading on social media has sparked new talks about intimacy and affection in modern relationships, particularly among Nigerian couples.
In the video, a woman passionately addresses married women, encouraging them to value modest acts of affection from their partners.
The woman, who used humour and straightforward honesty, said that many men cease expressing affection, particularly through kissing, after marriage.
“Buy Him a Gift” – Woman Expresses Appreciation
In the video, the woman emphasised the importance of recognising a husband who still exhibits affection. He said:
“You be married woman, your husband still dey kiss you. Ah, buy am gift. Na me dey tell you, make you go market buy am gift?”
She went further to claim that many married men no longer engage in such acts, saying:
“99% of men, e don tey they kiss their wife. They no fit remember when they kiss their wife.”
According to her, affection fades after marriage, although in the dating era, couples are more communicative.
Marriage vs. Dating: A Difference in Intimacy?
The woman contrasted the attitude of single women with that of married women, implying that romance is generally more intense before marriage.
She stated that unmarried girls freely show affection, but cautioned that such gestures may decrease after marriage begins.
“Single girl just dey kiss now… because you see that guy wey dey bring mouth dey kiss you, he fit no kiss you again, if he marry you,” she added.
She did, however, advise married women to value partners who still engage in romantic behaviour, describing it as a clear proof of love and emotional attachment.
