Businessman and political analyst Isaac Fayose claims that five governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are secretly supporting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

Fayose said that, while the governors would not publicly campaign for the opposition party, they had committed to financially back its electoral efforts in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to him, the governors’ primary priority was to prevent FCT Minister Nyesom Wike from clinching the two territories for the APC.

“We now have five APC governors supporting NDC in this election. They’re not going to come out to campaign for us. They’re not going to say anything in public that will favour us. But underneath, they promised to sponsor this election.

They don’t want Wike to win FCT and Rivers State for APC. I told them that their game plan is to carry our ballots and announce the results that they are writing as we speak. And they said yes, they know.

So they are offering all our polling agents in Rivers State and FCT ₦200,000 per polling unit. If you can stand together against rigging, they are willing to give you ₦200,000 each,” he stated.

Fayose went on to say that because the governors were still APC members, they did not want their identities to be revealed.

Additionally, he claimed that when he told the governors that he did not want President Bola Tinubu to take office again, they informed him that their top objective was to stop Wike from securing Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory for the APC.

The purported financial offer and the identities of the five governors are based on Fayose’s assertion and have not been independently confirmed.
