A Nigerian minibus driver has gone viral after admitting that he borrowed money from Opay to brand his vehicle in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s 2027 re-election campaign.
The driver stated that branding the bus has always been a goal of his, but he has never been able to afford it until now. He stated that his acts were motivated by enthusiasm and commitment to the leaders.
Read what he said below:
“To brand this car I borrowed money from Opay, that’s to tell you the love and passion I have for them. I have the evidence and pictures on how I borrowed the money, because years back I have been looking for an avenue to brand a car for them, but I didn’t have money then.”
He also thanked the leaders for caring for the less fortunate, including traders, students, and others, stating that regular residents should recognise good deeds when they see them.
“They care for the less privileged, for traders, for students and many more. If someone is doing good, let us admit the person is good,” he added.
His revelation has generated outrage online.
Some commended his dedication and zeal, saying it reflects average Nigerians’ excitement for politics. Others chastised him for risking his personal finances to promote political initiatives.
This popular film has spurred discussions about how far some citizens will go to support leaders they admire, as well as the personal sacrifices they make.
