12 de@d after plane full of sky divers crashes near Kansas City

A plane carrying skydivers crashed shortly after takeoff on Sunday morning near Butler Memorial Airport, resulting in the d3aths of all 12 people on board.

The aircraft went down at about 11:30 a.m. on airport property shortly after departing from the airport, according to Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson, who spoke during a Sunday afternoon news conference.

In a statement shared with ABC News and KMBC, Skydive Kansas City confirmed that the flight was being operated in support of its skydiving activities.

The company said the aircraft was carrying 11 skydivers and one pilot at the time of the crash.
