Rapper Jay-Z has asked a court to prevent Lillie Coley, the grandmother of a man who claims to be his son, from using bankruptcy proceedings to erase a $119,000 judgment she owes him.

According to court documents, Jay-Z filed legal papers in connection with Coley’s ongoing bankruptcy case, arguing that the debt should not be discharged because it stems from her conduct during years of litigation against him.

The rapper’s legal team stated that the judgment was awarded over Coley’s alleged fraudulent statements and misrepresentations. They further claimed that she has spent the past decade harassing Jay-Z through repeated lawsuits, online campaigns and public statements.

The dispute centres on claims made by Rymir Satterthwaite, Coley’s grandson, who has for years alleged that Jay-Z is his biological father. The music mogul has consistently denied the allegation and challenged the claims in court.

Jay-Z also told the court that he has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees defending himself against lawsuits filed by Coley and Rymir, noting that every case brought against him has been dismissed.

He argued that despite those dismissals, the alleged pattern of harassment has continued and asked the court to ensure Coley remains responsible for the debt she owes.

Coley has, however, asked the court to dismiss Jay-Z’s petition, arguing that he failed to meet several procedural requirements.

The case remains ongoing.

Rymir has long maintained that his late mother, Wanda, had a relationship with Jay-Z that resulted in his birth, a claim the rapper has consistently disputed.
