A 26-year-old woman, Isabel Anonia Barbra Eudora Rose from Hackney, East London, has been sentenced to six years in prison after she was convicted of falsely accusing a banker of r@pe and attempting to blackmail him for £100,000.

Rose was convicted of blackmail and perverting the course of public justice at the District Court in Hong Kong. She was sentenced on Wednesday, July 22, after being found guilty following a six-day trial in March.

According to the court, Rose met the banker, identified only as X, while travelling in Thailand before flying to Hong Kong to visit him in 2024.

The pair spent the night together on February 1, after which Rose reported to police that she had been r@ped. The banker was initially arrested but was later released without charge.

During the trial, the court ruled that the pair had engaged in consensual intimate acts that night. It also noted that a medical examination “could not confirm or disprove whether s£xual intercourse had taken place.”

Investigators revealed that days after the alleged assault, Rose requested £5,000 from the banker, which he paid. She later allegedly demanded £100,000, threatening to report the matter to the police if he refused.

Delivering judgment, Judge Adriana Noelle Tse Ching said Rose had “not shown an iota of remorse for her wicked behaviour.”

She was seen blowing kisses and waving to her mother as she was led away following sentencing.

During mitigation, Rose’s lawyer pleaded for leniency, citing her previous clean criminal record and the fact that she was a foreign national. However, the court proceeded with the six-year prison sentence.
