A 24-year-old woman has filed a rape complaint against her ex boyfriend after alleging that he repeatedly established physical relations with her on the false promise of marriage. The woman later discovered that the man was already married. A case has been registered at the Satara Police Station.
The accused has been identified as Shahid Kayyum Sayyed (27), a resident of Laxmi Colony, Shivajinagar.
According to the complaint, the woman has been living in the Deolai area for the past few months. She legally divorced her husband on December 1, 2025.
The complainant stated that she met Shahid in 2024 while both were working at a two-wheeler showroom in the Kranti Chowk area. Their friendship soon developed into a romantic relationship. At that time, she was living with her husband in the Harsul area.
The relationship reportedly led to frequent disputes with her husband, and the couple eventually decided to separate. They began living apart even before their divorce was finalised.
While the woman was staying with a friend, the accused allegedly assured her that he would take responsibility for her unborn child, give the child his name, provide financial support, and marry her. Based on these promises, he allegedly established physical relations with her.
The complainant was already two months pregnant when she separated from her husband and later gave birth to a baby girl. After the child was about six weeks old, the accused allegedly resumed visiting her residence and continued to have physical relations with her by repeatedly promising marriage, according to the FIR.
Woman discovers accused is already married
The complainant alleged that the accused later stopped visiting her after his family objected to the relationship and prevented him from meeting her. When she made further enquiries, she discovered that Shahid was already married.
Despite repeatedly calling him, she received no response. She also alleged that he neither enquired about her nor the child. Realising that she had been deceived, she approached the Satara Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Police have registered a case, and further investigation is being carried out by police sub-inspector Dilip Bachate.
