The Yoruba actor Oluwole Cole, best known by his stage name Baraka, has said that even though he has not yet “been paid for campaign work during the 2023 presidential race,” he will still back President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

The Lagos Island native stated that politics is deeply embedded in his society and that he still supports the president in an interview with African A-List.Films

He claimed that in order to support Tinubu, he and other activists gave up their master-of-ceremonies (MC) and acting careers, but they never received the promised compensation.

“During the 2023 election, I campaigned for Tinubu, but we received no funding. Many of the campaigners left their jobs to do so. As for me, in addition to acting, I work as an MC, and I know how much I can earn per month,” he explained.

“I, like others, missed out on several job possibilities at that period. I also missed out on several acting opportunities, and we were not paid what we were promised.

“As for me, Seyi Tinubu will continue to pay with my own money. He is a good boy and will settle me. I am from Lagos Island, and politics is a part of our way of life. I am interested in politics and will continue to support Tinubu. “I can’t leave him.”

Concerns regarding unpaid campaign compensation are not exclusive to Baraka. These charges have been made by a number of other performers in recent months.

Alapini was similarly disappointed, saying that neither he nor the other celebrities who ran for president got the rewards or recognition they were promised.

Lalude also expressed dissatisfaction about being “abandoned” during his campaigns for Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President Bola Tinubu.
