“Why didn’t anyone warn us?” – Nigerian lady opens up on harsh reality of living in Canada

A Nigerian lady has ignited conversations online after opening out about the realities of living in Canada, claiming life abroad is different from the dream many people in Nigeria anticipate.

In a video published on social media, the lady revealed that before transferring, she imagined individuals living overseas enjoyed an easy and happy lifestyle. However, after moving in Canada, she found that the reality was quite different.

According to her, life in the North American country can be challenging, lonely and, at times, uninteresting. She asked Nigerians back home to constantly check on their family members and friends residing overseas.

Read what she said below:

“Why didn’t anyone warn us that life abroad could be this hard? Just look at Canada. It’s tough, boring and very lonely here. Nigerians back home, if you have family or friends abroad, please call and check on them.”

The lady added that many people assume that those living overseas are having a good time just because they live in affluent countries, but that many immigrants are discreetly struggling with loneliness, isolation, and the burden of adjusting to a completely foreign environment.

Reflecting on her own experience, she stated that migrating to Canada completely altered her outlook on living overseas.

“When I was in Nigeria, I believed that those overseas were living the dream. Now that I’m here, I realise it’s not as easy as it appears. “Just look at me.”

Her heartfelt revelation has elicited a mixed response online, with many Nigerians living abroad agreeing with her, while others shared their own experiences adjusting to life outside the nation.
