“We’ll stab, shoot him, then tell everyone he killed our friend” — Lady recounts how armed robbers attacked her brother

A Nigerian lady has raised an alarm over the alleged robbery of her younger brother, a 300-level student, who was reportedly robbed of his phone, laptop and other valuables while returning from his industrial training (IT) programme.

The lady, in a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), said the incident happened around 3 p.m. along Dia Street, shortly after a bridge in the Yanoworo area.

She called on the police to investigate the incident and urged residents to stay vigilant following the alleged attack.

Recounting what happened, the lady said her brother had just gotten off a bus when two men allegedly cornered him and threatened him with weapons.

According to her, one of the suspects brandished a gun while the other brought out a knife, forcing the student to comply with their demands.

“They threatened to kill him if he does not cooperate with them. They told him to unlock his phone. He put his password, his bank details and all of that, and also his gadgets, which he did,” she said

According to her, the suspects took his belongings before slapping him and ordering him to walk away as if nothing had happened.

She also alleged that the men threatened to frame him for killing their friend if he resisted.

“They actually told him that if he should argue with them, they were going to scream and stab him and shoot him and tell everyone in the area that he killed their friend,” she added.

The lady expressed sadness over the incident, saying her brother has been emotionally affected by the experience.

“I’m really sad because my brother is really down. He’s emotionally down. I don’t think my brother can ever get over this,” she said.

She explained that the family had recently bought him a phone and laptop to support his studies.

“We recently got him this phone and laptop so he will be able to participate in school activities,” she added.

The woman lamented that the incident happened in broad daylight while her brother was returning from his IT programme.

The lady said she shared the video to alert people living in the area and warn others who might use the route.

She specifically appealed to police officers around Yanoworo to investigate the alleged robbery and take steps to address the security concerns.

“I’m making this video to create an awareness for people that are staying in that area, just to let them know that there are armed robbers there along Yanoworo, right after the bridge, Dia Street,” she said.

She also urged residents and passers-by to remain vigilant, noting that the alleged attack occurred around 3 p.m.

“If they can do this to him in broad daylight, 3 p.m., that means they can do this to anybody at any time,” she said.

The lady called on social media users to share the video to increase awareness of the reported incident. The allegations have not been independently verified.
