Nigerian comedian Mc Oz has expressed frustration over the rising cost of everyday shopping, lamenting that some supermarkets now charge customers separately for the nylon bags used to package their purchases.

In a video shared online, the comedian compared the situation with previous administrations, claiming that he never experienced paying separately for nylon bags while shopping under former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, customers now have to pay additional money for the bags used to carry items they have already purchased from supermarkets.

He argued that the development is another indication of the increasing financial pressure faced by Nigerians under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Mc Oz said:

“Let it be on the record that in Tinubu government, we dey buy things from supermarkets now we dey pay for paperback, for nylon. For Goodluck Jonathan regime, we no pay for nylon. Obasanjo regime, we no pay for nylon.

“Buhari regime, we no pay for nylon. e don reach Tinubu regime now, we don dey pay for nylon for supermarkets.

“You go go buy something for supermarket, from your money wey you take buy something, you come pay for nylon separate. That’s if you no pay them money for nylon, you go carry am for your head.

“It wasn’t like that before.”

His remarks have drawn attention online, with many Nigerians continuing to share concerns about the rising cost of goods and services and the increasing expenses associated with everyday life.

While charges for shopping bags may vary from one supermarket or retailer to another, Mc Oz’s comments have added to the ongoing public conversation about the rising cost of living in Nigeria.
