“We Are Ready for Talks or Armed Confrontation with Government” — Baπdit Leader Bello Turji Reportedly Says, Claims Responsibility for Fresh Att@cks

A video making the rounds on social media reportedly shows wanted baπdit leader Bello Turji speaking in Hausa and claiming responsibility for recent att@cks on security personnel in parts of Sokoto and Zamfara states.

In the footage, dated June 20, 2026, the masked individual believed to be Turji appeared alongside armed men dressed in camouflage and alleged that his group carried out retaliatory att@cks against individuals he accused of targeting their communities and confiscating livestock in areas including Shinkafi in Zamfara State and Sabon Birni in Sokoto State.

He also claimed that his fighters had “overpowered” those involved in the operations, stating that they were responding to alleged k!llings and cattle seizures, while praying for continued success in recovering stolen livestock.

The speaker further addressed the possibility of dialogue with the government, saying his group is willing to negotiate if authorities choose a peaceful approach, but warned that they are prepared for continued armed confrontation if force is used.

The video surfaced shortly after reports of an ambush along the Isa–Bargaja axis in Sokoto State, where suspected militants allegedly att@cked responding security personnel, resulting in casualties that have not been officially confirmed.

Security sources also suggested that earlier intelligence warnings about militant movements in the area may not have been adequately acted upon.

Authorities have yet to verify the authenticity of the video or formally respond to its claims, including the reported casualty figures and operational details.
