Following the scandal, the UBA graduate who went viral by calling businessman Tony Elumelu by his first name has been offered ₦500,000, a VIP vacation, and an ambassadorial deal.
Ossai Ovie Success, the Delta State Governor’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media, posted the offer on Facebook.
Ossai announced on Facebook that he was providing the young woman with ₦500,000 in cash support and a free VIP trip to the Delta Social Media Summit’s fourth edition.
“To the UBA young lady that was in the news, I’m offering you ₦500,000 cash + a complimentary VIP trip to the Delta Social Media Summit 4th Edition holding on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park Opposite Dennis Osadebay University in Asaba, Delta State.”
He said the package would pay for her travel, lodging, and attendance at the event.
Ossai listed the benefits being offered to the graduate, including:
- ₦500,000 cash support
- Flight tickets to Asaba
- Five-star hotel accommodation
- A guided tour of developmental projects in Delta State
- VIP access to the summit on Thursday, August 27, 2026
- A brand ambassador role for the Delta Social Media Summit
Ossai noted that internet criticism can have detrimental consequences and acknowledged the backlash the young woman has experienced since the episode went viral.
“I know the internet can be harsh. Depression is real and words cut deep.”
Although he admitted that the graduate had erred, he urged the public to stop criticising her.
“She made a mistake but we don’t need to torment her daily, she needs our support.”
Additionally, the Delta State government assistant expressed gratitude to Elumelu for correcting the graduate during the widely shared interaction.
“Thank you Mr Tony Elumelu for pointing out the needed correction that will further strengthen respect in our society.”
He promised to give the young woman a chance to tell her story and make the most of the event.
