American singer Oliver Tree has reportedly passed away in a helicopter accident in Brazil at the age of 32.

According to firefighters, two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning before crashing in the western part of the city, resulting in the d3aths of all six people on board.

Rio de Janeiro’s Military Fire Department stated that one of the helicopters came down in the parking lot of a car dealership, where several electric vehicles caught fire. The blaze was later extinguished.

Police said aviation authorities listed Tree, an American musician and comedian, among the passengers on board. Authorities have not yet been able to formally identify the bodies of those who d!ed in the cr@sh.

CNN Brazil reported that the other victims were passengers Lucas Brito Chaves, Gaspar Prim and Lucas Vignale, along with pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac. One helicopter was carrying five people, while the other had only its pilot.

Both The Associated Press and CNN Brazil reported that Tree was aboard one of the helicopters. Representatives for the singer did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Independent.

Born Oliver Tree Nickell on June 29, 1993, the California-based singer-songwriter first gained attention on Vine in 2016 through his alter ego, Turbo, after releasing his debut EP, Demons, in 2013.

Recognized for his bowl haircut and brightly coloured outfits, Tree began producing dubstep music in the San Francisco Bay Area before gaining wider popularity in 2016 with his viral hit, “When I’m Down.”

Following the success of the song online, he signed with Atlantic Records in 2017.

His 2018 album, Alien Boy, further established his presence in electronic music and helped grow his popularity on YouTube with its retro 80s-inspired style.

Aside from “When I’m Down,” Tree was also known for tracks such as “Life Goes On,” “Alien Boy,” “Cash Machine,” “Jerk,” and “Miss You” with Robin Schulz.
