Students in northern Nigeria have been observed stomping on Israeli and US flags during pro-Iran protests.
A video circulating online depicts a group of students at a school meeting, placing the two flags on the ground, then standing on them as part of a demonstration.
The protests were allegedly coordinated by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, a Shia Islamic group known for staging rallies on worldwide political matters.
According to sources, the demonstrations were held to show support for Iran following rumours that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was murdered amid purported US-Israeli bombings.
Throughout the ceremonies, demonstrators brandished Iranian flags and held giant images of Khamenei, chanting anti-US and anti-Israeli slogans.
According to reports, similar demonstrations occurred in several northern states, including Gombe, Kano, and Niger.
Organisers reportedly placed Israeli and American flags on the ground during school events and marches, which participants symbolically stepped on as part of the protest.
The organisers billed the marches as a chance to lament what they called a “heinous attack” and show sympathy with Iran.
