In Bauchi State, U.S. soldiers have intensified military training for Nigerian troops, emphasising battle casualty care, unmanned aircraft systems, and other specific military skills.

The training is a component of larger security cooperation between the United States and Nigeria that aims to increase Nigerian troops’ long-term capabilities, preparedness, and capability.

Combat Lifesaver and Tactical Combat Casualty Care, weapons familiarisation, camouflage, water treatment, explosive ordnance disposal, small-unit tactics, and unmanned aircraft systems were all covered in the exercises at Operating Location Bauchi, according to a report by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).

According to the study, US personnel’s knowledge and the demands of their Nigerian counterparts were taken into consideration when choosing the training areas.

According to Capt. Gabriel Feingold, a logistics officer in the US Army, American soldiers offered Nigerian leadership a number of training alternatives before the Nigerian side chose the regions deemed most advantageous.

Sgt. Mark Murphy led roughly ten members of the Nigerian Air Force Special personnel Regiment through the unmanned aircraft systems training, which apparently piqued the curiosity of Nigerian personnel.

According to Murphy, the Nigerian staff members were excited about the hands-on training and eager to learn more about the systems.

According to the US report, the drills also gave Nigerian and American service members the chance to improve interoperability and cement bonds.

It further stated that as both parties continued to discover areas for military knowledge-sharing, further training possibilities were being developed at the Bauchi location.

The most recent development follows AFRICOM’s July announcement that the United States had evacuated the majority of its troops stationed in Nigeria for a particular counterterrorism mission, while continuing to share intelligence and collaborate on security matters with the nation.
