UK man pays elder brother ₦3m, gives ₦140m building contract to another engineer, brother brings thugs to destroy foundation

A Nigerian man residing in the United Kingdom has reportedly fallen out with his mother and elder brother after awarding a ₦140 million building contract to another engineer instead of his sibling.

The incident was narrated by an X user, @GloriousGod01, who claimed that the disagreement began when the man decided not to engage his elder brother, who is also an engineer, for his house construction project.

According to the post, the man had initially approached an engineer for a quotation and was informed that the project would cost approximately ₦140 million, excluding workmanship.

He later contacted his elder brother to find out how much he would charge to execute the project.

Elder brother reportedly quotes ₦150 million

The X user explained that the elder brother quoted ₦150 million for the construction work.

When his younger sibling asked about his profit margin, he reportedly said he typically made between ₦10 million and ₦15 million on a project. However, because they were family, he offered to reduce his profit to between ₦3 million and ₦5 million.

The younger brother allegedly accepted the arrangement, requested his elder brother’s bank details and transferred ₦3 million to him.

Despite the payment, he later decided to award the construction contract to the engineer who had provided the initial quotation.

The decision reportedly angered the elder brother, who subsequently involved their mother in the dispute.

The younger brother reportedly explained that he preferred to keep family relationships separate from business dealings. He also argued that the ₦3 million he had transferred represented 60 per cent of the minimum ₦5 million profit his brother had indicated he would accept.

Elder brother allegedly destroys building foundation

The disagreement reportedly took a more serious turn when the engineer selected for the project arrived at the construction site with his workers to begin work.

According to the account, the elder brother allegedly arrived with a group of thugs and destroyed the building’s foundation.

The younger brother reportedly had his elder sibling arrested, with the X user claiming that he spent three days in custody without food.

The post further alleged that the elder brother did not return to the site after the incident and that construction continued until the house was completed.

The family disagreement reportedly damaged the man’s relationship with both his mother and elder brother, with the mother allegedly refusing to answer his calls.

Man reportedly prepares to open completed house

Recounting the incident, @GloriousGod01 shared the following account:

“My guy who lives in the UK wanted to start his building project. He got a quotation from an engineer and everything came to about 140 million naira, excluding workmanship.

“His elder brother is also an engineer so he reached out to him. The elder brother quoted 150 million naira. When asked about his profit margin, he said 10 to 15 million naira per project but would take only 3 to 5 million since it was family.

“My friend said okay, requested his account details and sent him 3 million naira.

“Then he gave the contract to the first engineer.

“When the elder brother found out, he reported it to their mother. My friend told them plainly that he did not want to mix family with business and that the 3 million naira was already 60% of what his brother said he would have made.

“The day the engineer arrived at the site with his crew to begin work, the elder brother showed up with thugs and destroyed the foundation.

“My friend had him arrested for 3 days without food.

“He never went near the site again until the building was completed.

“His mother has refused to take his calls since then.

“He is opening the house tomorrow. His elder brother and mother have both cut him off.

“Above all, love God.”

The account has drawn attention to the potential challenges of mixing family relationships with business transactions, particularly when expectations and financial interests clash. However, the claims remain those of the X user and have not been independently verified.
