Following a late-night attack on the Bundu Kahugu community in the Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State by suspected b@πdits, three people were k!.lled and three others were k!.dnapped.

On Monday, December 29, 2025, at around 11 p.m., the attack took place. 

Ishaya Dauda, the National Secretary of the Bundu Kahugu community, confirmed the incident to Punch on Tuesday. She said the attackers stormed the village in the dark, sh0.0ting intermittently and frightening the locals.

He claimed that just two weeks prior, the community had experienced a similar att@.ck that resulted in the d£•ths of four people, raising concerns about the ongoing attacks on the area.

“The attackers came late at night and began shooting. Three people were k!.lled instantly, while three others were taken away. This is the second att.@ck on our community in less than two weeks,” he said. 

The victims k!.lled during the latest attack were identified as Felix Augustine, Luka Yakubu and Ezra Namata.

Residents of the community have appealed to the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to urgently deploy military personnel to the area to forestall further att@•ks.

They also called on telecommunication companies to improve network coverage in the community, noting that the attackers often exploit poor communication networks to operate freely and escape without resistance.

“We are pleading with the government to help us. The poor network here is aiding the att@.ckers. We need security presence and improved communication facilities to save our people,” the community leader added.
