A young National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member has called out the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over an alleged unpaid ₦25,500 allowance after working as an ad hoc staff member during the Osun State governorship election.

The corps member expressed frustration over what they described as INEC’s failure to pay the allowance reportedly promised to NYSC members who participated in the electoral exercise.

NYSC Member Recounts Difficult Experience

According to the corps member, the assignment took place in a remote, forested area that was difficult to access.

The NYSC member said:

> “After working as adhoc staff of @inecnigeria during the Osun State governorship election in a thick forest, they have refused to pay 25,500 Naira to promised to pay all NYSC members who worked for them.”

Recounting the journey to the polling location, the corps member added:

> “My friend and I fell 3 times on Okada while trying to reach the village because it wasn’t motorable”.

The corps member also shared a video showing what appeared to be the forested environment where the assignment was carried out.

Complaint Sparks Reactions

The complaint has renewed discussions about the experiences of temporary election workers and the need for timely payment of allowances after electoral assignments.
