The wife of famed actor and skit maker Victor Nwaogu, often known as Nkubi, has generated internet debate after admitting that her family first rejected him due to his physical looks.

In a recent interview, she said that she purposefully omitted mentioning her husband’s appearance before introducing him to her family.

According to her, she wanted them to meet him without preconceived notions.

“I didn’t tell my family about my husband’s looks until he appeared before them. They rejected him, but I stood my ground,” she said.

She added that when Nkubi finally met her family, their reaction was not positive.

Although she did not go into depth about their reservations, she implied that they were more concerned with his physical size rather than his character.

Despite the pressure, she maintained she would not back down. She believed that what genuinely counted was the type of man he was.

She described him as compassionate, responsible, and helpful, emphasising that these characteristics much outweighed physical considerations.

In a prior confession, she described a troubling encounter during a prenatal scan in which a medical expert made an inappropriate remark, questioning why she did not “go outside” to get pregnant rather than conceiving with her husband.

Since the interview, responses have poured in on social media.

While many netizens praised her for sticking by her spouse and valuing character over appearance, others chastised families for judging potential partners solely on physical characteristics.
