A heartbroken mother has screamed out for help after her daughter was allegedly kidnapped on the Benin-Lagos motorway.
The incident apparently involved passengers on a GUO Transport bus heading from Benin to Lagos, where kidnappers ambushed the vehicle and abducted numerous people.
The woman, visibly frightened, made an emotional appeal in a viral video, saying:
“They kidnapped my pikin for Ore road yesterday. They called and told me to bring ₦50 million. I don’t have ₦50 million. I’m pleading with them to collect ₦10 million but they said no. I be widow o, Christiana no get papa.
Please, I need help, I don’t know who to run to. They kidnapped her yesterday on her way to Lagos from Benin. Na school she dey go. Please, I need help.”
The kidnappers reportedly sought a ransom of ₦50 million for the victims’ release, causing sorrow among their families.
The impassioned plea has subsequently received extensive attention online, with many Nigerians expressing alarm over the increase in incidences of insecurity on major roadways.
Reacting to the development, one user wrote, “This is heartbreaking 💔,” while another commented, “God please protect them.”
The event has once again raised critical concerns about road safety in Nigeria, as families continue to seek assistance and pray for their loved ones’ safe return.
