In response to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s return to his political camp, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike declared that “there is no sin in politics” and insisted that the governor did nothing wrong by going back in time.

Days after Fubara openly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027 and proclaimed support for the minister’s political coalition, Wike made the declaration on Tuesday while speaking with reporters following an inspection of ongoing road improvements in the Federal Capital Territory.

The former governor of Rivers State emphasised that politics could not be seen through the prism of sin or transgression, rejecting suggestions that he had forgiven Fubara after their protracted political spat.

Wike stated that the governor’s choice will bolster their efforts ahead of the 2027 general election and that he had always believed that Fubara would eventually return to the political dynasty that spawned him.

“There is no sin in politics. Fubara has done nothing wrong. Politics is not a sin. What is important is for someone to realise when he has made a mistake and decide to take the right path.

We welcome him back because our doors are open. We must work together, and with his return, we will work together to deliver the votes President Tinubu needs for his re-election,” Wike said.

The FCT minister expressed optimism that the state and the ruling coalition will gain from the revived alliance, adding that the political rift in Rivers State should now be a thing of the past.

Speaking about ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja, he reassured locals that inherited projects would be finished rather than shelved.
