A woman has gone viral after explaining how she intervened to help her boyfriend deal with pals who had turned his flat into their permanent dwelling without paying to household bills.
According to her, the man had often complained about his pals living in his flat despite owning their own properties.
She said they did not pay bills, leaving him to cover the cost of rent, food, and other costs. Although she recommended him to ask them to leave, he declined due to their long-standing friendship.
The lady added that she decided to intervene by bringing food into the flat, cooking for everyone and observing the scenario.
After preparing meals for several days, she claimed her friends were unwilling to contribute monetarily when she requested ₦50,000 for another pot of soup.
Sharing her experience, the lady said, “My boyfriend has always complained about his friends living in his apartment when they have theirs. They don’t pay any bills. He pays all the house expenses while they live on him. I suggested that he tell them to leave. He said he couldn’t because they’ve been together for long. So I took matters into my hands, I went there with foodstuffs, cooked, and served them all the first day. 2nd day, the soup finished, my guy gave me money for another soup, that one too finished the next day. 4th day, I went to them and asked that they give me 50k to cook. One of them said, ‘ha iyen lor far o.’”
The account has elicited conflicting comments on social media, with many users wondering whether the woman overstepped her position in her boyfriend’s friendships or merely assisted him in enforcing limits that he struggled to set for himself.
Others claimed that the ending emphasised the necessity of communicating expectations and personal boundaries early in relationships, while others insisted that the flat owner alone could select who stayed in his property.
