Super Eagles Star Wins Player of the Match Award After Helping Club Secure Victory

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze made a strong start to the 2026/27 Serie A campaign, winning the Player of the Match award after helping AC Milan beat Torino 2-1 on Sunday.

According to a report by Daily Sports on Sunday, August 23, 2026, Chukwueze played a key role in Milan’s victory, providing the assist for Adrien Rabiot to score the second goal and put the hosts firmly in control.

Milan opened the scoring through Alphadjo Cisse after Rabiot delivered a well-weighted cross into the box.

Chukwueze then produced an excellent delivery towards the far post, allowing Rabiot to double the advantage.

Torino reduced the deficit through substitute Che Adams in stoppage time, but Milan held on to claim all three points and give new head coach Ruben Amorim a winning start.

Operating from the right wing-back position, Chukwueze was a constant attacking threat and created four chances, the highest number recorded by any player in the match.

His impressive display earned him the Player of the Match award, while Sofascore gave him a rating of 7.5.

The decision to deploy Chukwueze as a right wing-back appears to be producing positive results, with the Nigerian making an immediate impact in Milan’s opening game of the new Serie A season.
