South African Protesters Barge Into Homes, Threaten Pregnant Woman and Mother

According to a report by News24 on June 30, 2026, protesters in South Africa barged into homes and threatened residents, including a pregnant woman and a mother with a three-month-old baby.

The incident occurred amid growing tensions over undocumented migrants and rising anti-foreigner sentiment in parts of the country.

The protesters, who have been demanding that undocumented migrants leave South Africa, reportedly entered homes in a community and issued threats to residents.

Witnesses said the pregnant woman and the new mother were among those targeted, sparking fear and panic in the area.

Protests have escalated in recent weeks, with marchers chanting “Mabahambe” (They must go) and demanding that the government take stricter action against illegal immigration.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned that “scapegoating of vulnerable people” is not the solution to the country’s economic challenges.

He has also condemned acts of intimidation and violence against foreigners, stating that they undermine South Africa’s values of tolerance and diversity.

The South African government has deployed security forces to maintain order and protect vulnerable communities. However, tensions remain high, with many migrants living in fear of reprisals.
