“So the person standing in front of you is a pastor?” – Nurse recounts encounter with woman after C-section

A Nigerian nurse has sparked reactions online after recounting an encounter with a woman who underwent a Caesarean section (C-section) and later returned to the hospital complaining of pain around her surgical wound.

The nurse, who shared the experience in a post on X, described how the situation reportedly escalated when she attempted to examine the woman’s abdomen to assess her condition.

According to the account, the woman brushed the nurse’s hand away and demanded to know when the doctor would arrive, apparently refusing to cooperate with the nurse who was attending to her.

The situation reportedly prompted another nurse to intervene and challenge the woman’s reaction.

The nurse asked her, “So the person standing in front of you is a pastor?”

The remark reportedly brought the room to silence, after which the woman complied with the nurse’s instructions.

The account has generated reactions on social media, with users sharing different opinions about the interaction between the patient and the healthcare workers.

While some may view the woman’s reaction as disrespectful, patients recovering from surgery may also experience pain, anxiety or discomfort during examinations.

Healthcare professionals play an important role in assessing patients and monitoring their recovery, while patients deserve clear explanations, respectful treatment and the opportunity to express concerns about their care.

The incident has therefore renewed online discussions about communication, mutual respect and the importance of maintaining a professional relationship between patients and healthcare workers.
