A Nigerian Bolt driver said that a female customer used an inexpensive wig as collateral instead of paying the ₦20,000 travel fare.

According to the driver, he picked up the lady in Gwagwalada during a severe rain and agreed to bring her to Maraba. During the flight, she allegedly claimed she had recently returned to Nigeria and frequently socialised with celebrities, leading him to believe she was wealthy.

The driver said he planned to approach her for assistance in finding a better job because she appeared to know powerful people in Abuja.

“When we got to her location and it was time to pay, she said her phone had gone off. I told her to give me something to hold so I could come back for my money the next morning. That was how she removed her wig as collateral.”

The driver, believing the wig belonged to an affluent woman, predicted it would be worth a fortune. However, things changed when he contacted the lady the next day.

Instead of paying the outstanding fare as promised, the lady urged him to sell it if he wanted to get his money back, which surprised him.

“She told me she didn’t have any money and said if I could sell the wig, I should. I carried the wig to my neighbour who sells hair. She just laughed and told me it was an Okrika wig. She said if I go to Yaya Market on Wednesday, I can buy the same one for ₦5,000,” he added.
