Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian artist Burna Boy performed at the opening of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, delivering one of the most widely discussed highlights of the ceremony.

The duo appeared on stage during the opening event on Thursday, June 11, where they performed the tournament’s official song, “Dai Dai,” before a large audience.

Shakira opened the performance after an earlier appearance by J Balvin, showcasing her signature dance moves and engaging the crowd inside the stadium.

Later in the performance, Burna Boy joined her on stage, prompting a strong reaction from the audience.

Both performers sang while standing on a large turquoise-and-yellow flag laid across the field, which displayed the message: “We are ready.”
