Singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and businessman Aliko Dangote contacted him during the period surrounding the election.

According to a report by News Central TV on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Davido made the claims while discussing developments that occurred during the election and his activities on social media.

The singer alleged that Akpabio attempted to contact the coalition centre while also reaching out to him personally over a post he had made on social media.

Davido claimed that the Senate President asked him to delete the post, but he declined to do so.

“I heard that the Senate President was trying to call the coalition center. He also called me to delete tweet. I refused.”

The singer further alleged that Dangote also contacted him concerning the same post and requested that it be taken down.

“Dangote also called. I said I won’t delete till INEC declares my uncle as winner.”

Davido’s comments have generated attention because of the identities of the individuals he claimed contacted him and the circumstances surrounding the election. However, the allegations, as reported, represent Davido’s account of the events and do not by themselves establish that the alleged contacts occurred.

The development has also renewed discussions about the increasing influence of social media during Nigeria’s elections.
