Sanusi Lamido Sanusi praises Alex Otti, says public office is not for wealth

The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has praised Governor Alex Otti, emphasising that public service should be motivated by responsibility rather than personal financial gain.

Speaking at a recent event, he emphasised that politics is not a path to wealth creation, advising those seeking money to choose business instead.

He noted that presidents are eventually recognised for their contributions and influence while in office.

Sanusi also praised Alex Otti’s leadership in Abia State, citing improvements in infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and electricity.

He also mentioned his long-standing friendship with Otti from their experience in the banking industry, characterising him as an example of intentional leadership and legacy-based governance.

“Public service is an honor, not a place to make money. If you want money, go into business, not politics, because at the end of the day, you will only be remembered for what you did during your service. If you go to Abia state you’ll see the roads, the bridges, the electricity Alex Otti is an excellent example of what leadership should be about. I’m proud to call him my friend. I have known him for years; we worked together in the banking sector. He is building a lasting legacy in Abia State.”
