Police probe acid att@ck on 17-year-old boy in Adamawa

An investigation into an alleged acid assault on Walid Mohammed, a 17-year-old kid in the state’s Yola South Local Government Area, has been launched by the Adamawa State Police Command. SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement released in Yola on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Nguroje claims that the victim was attacked on his way to a mosque on January 14, 2026, at Shagari Quarters. “On January 14, 2026, the victim, a 17-year-old, ran to the Shagari Division Headquarters in distress, stating that while on his way to mosque, he was sprayed with a substance suspected to be acidic by one Idris Hamza, a resident of Shagari, Yola South LGA,” the statement read.   “Following the report, the victim was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment, while the alleged suspect was taken into custody.”   Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation.
