A 36-year-old man, Charles Ekuma Eze, has d!ed after he was allegedly st@bbed by his friend during an argument in Ikom Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in the Etayip community of Ikom town, although the circumstances that led to the altercation remain unclear.
The spokesperson for the Cross River State Police Command, Eitokpah Sunday Akata, said the victim was allegedly st@bbed on the right rib with a dagger by Micheal Ndifon, 42, during the argument.
According to Akata, the incident was reported at the Ikom Police Division by the Chairman of the community Task Force, Ndifon Nkang, and the Youth Leader, Felix Agbor.
The police spokesperson said the victim was initially taken to Holy Family Hospital, Ikom, before being referred to the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, where he later d!ed while receiving treatment.
He stated:
“The Task Force Chairman and Youth Leader of Asse-Asin Community reported that at about 5:46 p.m. on the same day, the suspect, Micheal Ndifon, allegedly st@bbed Charles Ekuma Eze with a dagger on his right rib during an argument.”
Akata confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and that the alleged weapon used in the attack has been recovered as an exhibit.
He added that the deceased’s body has been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
