In response to criticism for his recent remarks against civil servants, well-known content producer Peller has apologised.
This comes after he said in a widely shared video that the Maldives are not for civil servants and that he allegedly spent ₦30 million on the trip.
However, the influencer clarified that he didn’t completely understand the word and that he had picked it up from someone else.
“I didn’t know the meaning of civil servants. It’s now they told me about civil servants. Please, you guys should forgive me,” he said.
He also stated that he learned the phrase from an Abuja car dealer who constantly used it, which impacted his own usage.
Peller was particularly concerned about how the circumstance might effect his future, namely his ambitions to serve in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
“I learnt the word from one Alhaji who sells cars in Abuja. He’s always using that phrase, that’s why I said it too. I just realised civil servants are corpers, NYSC people, and I want to serve. Please, I’m sorry. It shouldn’t be that you people will reject me when I’m about to go for NYSC because of my comment. Abeg, make una forgive me,” he added.
His apologies elicited mixed emotions online, with many Nigerians voicing their sentiments.
One user wrote, “He no even understand wetin him talk before 😭.” Another added, “Civil servants no be only corpers o. Truly, school is not a scam.”
