A Nigerian woman has criticised Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa on social media, claiming that after working for her as a sales representative, she refused to pay her wage.
She stated in a widely shared video that she took the job even though she was a graduate because of the nation’s economic difficulties and lack of job alternatives.
“I’m just here to tell you guys to help me beg Funmi Awelewa to pay my salary. I’m a graduate, but there is no job in the country. I even have a little business I do for myself, but it is not moving, so I accepted to be a sales rep,” she said.
She claimed that in addition to doing personal activities for the actress, she was frequently dispatched on errands that did not fit her work description, such as shopping, inspecting houses, and massaging the actress.
The woman further claimed that she was hurt while working at the actress business and then asked for a portion of her pay to pay for her medical care.
“I’ve been working with you for like 16 days now. I’m not telling you to give me money. Give me half of my salary and let me go and treat myself. But she replied that she is not ready to pay me a dime and blocked me,” she alleged.
She added that the actress allegedly turned down an invitation to appear and stated that she had reported the incident to the police.
Funmi Awelewa has not addressed the accusations in public as of the time this report was filed.
