Kyenpuya Nyabam, a Nigerian woman, posted a touching photo of her husband helping their pregnant daughter go into labor.

The Plateau woman shared the photos on Facebook on Monday, April 13, pointing out that parenthood doesn’t end when parents marry off their kids.

Nyabam claims that witnessing her husband stroll with their daughter and son-in-law at such a vulnerable time serves as a reminder that marriage does not split a family; rather, it strengthens it.

“And in that moment, something deep settled in my heart,” she wrote.

“Parenthood doesn’t end at the altar. It doesn’t end when we say “I do” on their behalf or place their hands into another’s. It simply changes form.

“Watching my husband stand there—strong, steady, present—not just as a father who had “given away” his daughter, but as one who still *covers, supports, and shows up*, reminded me that love doesn’t release with emptiness; it releases with responsibility.

“Even in marriage, our children don’t stop being our children. They grow, they build their own homes, they become partners and parents themselves—but a part of them will always look back, knowing we are there. Not to control, not to interfere, but to stand in the gap when needed, to pray, to guide, and to hold their hands in seasons when life feels overwhelming.

“Seeing Daddy walk with her and her husband through such a vulnerable and sacred moment like labour touched me deeply. It was a quiet reminder that family is not divided by marriage—it is expanded by it.

“We don’t give our children away. We *release them into purpose*, while still being their safe place.

“And I am grateful… grateful for a father who understands this, who lives it, and who shows our children that love is not seasonal—it is steadfast.”
