On Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig match, Galatasaray defeated Rizespor 3-0 on the road thanks to Victor Osimhen’s ongoing excellent scoring run.

The defending champions tightened their hold on the top spot in the league as the Nigerian international scored his 15th goal of the season in all competitions to seal the victory in the second half.

After a strong start, Galatasaray was rewarded in the 19th minute as Barış Alper Yılmaz gave them the lead.

The visitors took early control of the match when the winger climbed above his marker to head home a well-weighted cross from Noa Lang.

Galatasaray’s pressure was too much for Rizespor to handle, and after the break, the pressure finally became apparent once more.

Yunus Akgün doubled the lead in the 62nd minute as Yılmaz turned provider with a crisp delivery that he converted from close range. Eleven minutes later, Osimhen put the outcome beyond question.

To complete an impressive display by Okan Buruk’s team, the striker gathered the ball just outside the area, calmly glided past the goalkeeper, and finished into an empty net from a close angle.

With 52 points from 21 games, Galatasaray remains atop the Super Lig standings following the victory. They are seven points ahead of third-place Trabzonspor and six ahead of second-place Fenerbahçe, who still have a game to play.

Osimhen has now scored nine goals in the league this season, highlighting his significance in Galatasaray’s pursuit of a fourth straight Super Lig championship.

In Friday’s league matchup between Galatasaray and Eyüpspor, the Super Eagles forward will try to increase that total.
