Onochie Reacts As Large Number Of Kano Youths Visit Govt House With Banners Saying Tinubu Must Go

African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Lauretta Onochie has reacted to a reported demonstration in Kano State where a group of youths gathered at the Government House carrying banners critical of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Onochie addressed the development in a post on her official X account on Thursday, August 27, 2026, following the circulation of a video showing the gathering online.

The footage reportedly captured several youths displaying banners bearing various messages directed at the Federal Government. One of the inscriptions prominently displayed during the demonstration read, “Tinubu Must Go,” signalling opposition to the President and dissatisfaction with the direction of his administration.

The development has drawn attention as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections. Opposition groups and political movements have increasingly focused on mobilising young Nigerians, who constitute an important segment of the electorate and could play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the next presidential election.

Reacting to the video, Onochie appeared to challenge supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to engage the protesters directly instead of merely reacting to their criticism from a distance.

She urged those who believe in the APC and President Tinubu’s performance to use the opportunity to explain the party’s policies and highlight what they consider the administration’s achievements.

“If you are brave, preach APC to them. If you are courageous, sell Tinubu to them,” Onochie wrote.

Her comment has further fuelled conversations about how political parties intend to communicate with voters as the country moves closer to the 2027 elections.
