A white man has amused Nigerians online after pointing out what he described as a funny habit among Nigerians whenever an argument is about to begin.
According to him, Nigerians rarely proceed directly into an argument without first questioning the mental state of the person they are about to confront.
‘They will always do a full mental health check’
The man explained that Nigerians would first try to determine whether the other person was mentally okay before engaging in a heated argument.
He said:
“Nigerians will never argue with somebody who isn’t mentally well. They will always do a full mental health check before any argument takes place.
A Nigerian will check directly with you first to confirm that you are mentally okay, then check with the person closest to you and possibly one other person nearby before arguing with you.
They will say, ‘Are you m_d? Is he cr_zy? Is this man cr_zy?’
Free mental health checks before any argument happens. There’s no point arguing with somebody who isn’t mentally in the right place.”
Observation gets Nigerians talking
The humorous observation has generated laughter and reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many recognising the familiar expressions often used during heated disagreements.
The comments have also sparked a lighthearted conversation about Nigerian culture, communication styles and the creative ways people respond when confronted with an unexpected argument.
Nigerians, is this true?
