Tracynither Nicolas Ohiri, a businesswoman, has claimed on social media that she was arrested at the direction of David Umahi, the Minister of Works.
She said in a widely shared video that she was being transported to Abuja and urged Nigerians to hold the minister and the police accountable if anything were to happen to her.
Years Tracynither claimed that Umahi owed her 12 years for the resources she provided for the campaign. She added that the protracted argument resulted from her rejection to date him.
“Nigerians, David Umahi, who has been owing me for 12 years, just arrested me. And right now they are taking me to Abuja. I am very high in my spirits, but should anything happen to me, Nigerians should hold David Umahi and the Nigerian police responsible,” she said in the video.
She reiterated the story, saying she was on her way to Abuja.
Tracynither accused the minister of using his political clout to “weaponise” state authority against her.
“This man, David Umahi, has been owing me for 12 years because I refused to date him. And right now he is using his power as a politician to weaponise and arrest me. I am on my way to Abuja,” she alleged.
The development coincides with an ongoing conflict between the parties, in which Umahi has threatened legal action and denied claims of sexual harassment and unpaid contracts.
Neither the minister’s office nor the police have formally responded to her most recent allegations as of the time this report was filed.
