
A Nigerian teenager convicted of m8√dering a 21-year-old man has received a life sentence in the United Kingdom.
Jackson Uwagboe, 19, of Hamilton Street in Lewisham, fled to Nigeria following a “vicious attack” in southeast London.
Uwagboe was found guilty on 10 February at the Old Bailey of m8√dering Robert Robinson on June 6, 2024, in Deptford.
On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, he was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 21 years for m8√der, robbery, and possessing a bladed article.
They were ordered to serve minimum sentences of 23 years and 22 years and nine months, respectively.
According to the Metropolitan Police, Robinson sustained 12 serious stab wounds during the attack, including defensive injuries indicating he attempted to protect himself from the blows.
He d!ed at the scene on Carteret Way, Deptford.
The force said all three k’s! llers fled the scene, and Uwagboe escaped the country.
He returned to the UK on February 25, 2025, and was arrested at Gatwick Airport on suspicion of m8√der, according to the Met Police.
Det Insp Neil Tovey, who led the investigation, said: “Robert was subjected to a brutal and sustained attack by a group of men armed with knives. He was unarmed, already wounded, and on the ground when Uwagboe attacked him. His claims of self-defence were entirely without foundation.”
He said the verdicts marked “justice for Robert Robinson and his family”, who had endured two trials as a result of Uwagboe fleeing the country.
