A Nigerian man who appeared in a viral video showing him being physically a$$aulted by his wife has reportedly declined assistance aimed at helping him seek justice.

The video, which circulated widely on social media, showed the woman dragging the man on the floor and repeatedly hitting him.

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who shared the footage online on Wednesday, June 24, said many Nigerians had m0cked the victim over the incident instead of condemning the vi0lence.

Gwamnishu stressed that vi0lence against any person, regardless of gender, should never be encouraged or treated as entertainment.

Providing an update on the case, the activist disclosed that the man was contacted and offered support, but he declined assistance for both rehabilitation and legal action.

The reasons behind his decision were not disclosed.
