News helicopter crashes in fireball, k!lling 3 at scene where bus crash had just k!lled 2

A news helicopter has reportedly crashed into a fireball in Los Angeles, k!lling three people at the scene of an earlier fatal bus collision that had already claimed two lives.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), one surviving individual was rushed to a local hospital in grave condition.

Helicopter crashes near emergency scene

The helicopter reportedly crashed at about 7 p.m. on the 9100 block of Mason Avenue, between two commercial buildings. The impact set several nearby vehicles on fire.

When firefighters arrived, they reportedly found the helicopter and several cars engulfed in flames near the location where emergency crews were already responding to the earlier bus accident.

News coverage of the incident captured the emotional toll of the tragedy.

“We have lost contact with our people,” Colleen Williams said while holding back tears as she covered the story.

Earlier bus crash k!lled two

The helicopter crash occurred as emergency workers were still managing the aftermath of an earlier fatal collision involving a Metro bus and another vehicle.

At least two people were k!lled in the bus crash, while six others were injured and taken to hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The bus collision was reported shortly after 5 p.m. near Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

D3ath toll rises to five

The two separate incidents brought the reported d3ath toll to five — three from the helicopter crash and two from the earlier bus collision.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass described the events as a devastating night for the city.

“This is a heartbreaking night for our city. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and the loved ones we lost today,” Bass said at a press conference near the scene Tuesday night.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding both crashes.
