An X user has sparked debate on social media after explaining why she believes every woman should have a stable source of income before getting married.

According to her, the discussion began after her mother spoke about a younger woman who got married immediately after graduating from university and became a full-time housewife despite being a qualified lawyer.

She said the conversation prompted her to ask what would happen if the woman’s husband unexpectedly lost his job or passed away, questioning whether she would be financially capable of supporting the family. While emphasizing that she was not wishing anyone harm, she argued that the realities of modern life make financial independence essential for women.

The lady further stated that when she eventually gets married, she wants to be in a position where she can comfortably take care of her family, regardless of whether her husband is able to provide or not.

She added that having her own source of income gives a woman confidence, independence, and protection from being controlled or looked down on because of money.

She concluded by encouraging women to prioritize building successful careers and achieving financial stability instead of depending entirely on marriage for security.
